In order to offer good-quality childcare, professionals must have a pedagogical training degree at least at MBO level 3. Managers of a childcare organization must at least be trained at MBO level 4.
Through ‘wage loss’, childcare organizations can be eligible for a contribution to the replacement costs for employees participating in a BBL training. This way replacement can be arranged for the hours an employee attends the training during the day.
For owners in training, ‘flying teachers’ are used. A flying teacher can be called upon when the owner of a childcare follows a pedagogical training at level 2, 3 or 4. The costs of the flying teacher are paid by BES(t) 4 kids. This way the internship takes place in the own organization with an experienced external supervisor.
The intention is to improve the terms of employment for employees in childcare. At the end of 2020 and in early 2021, a research was conducted on Bonaire and Saba into the primary and secondary terms of employment. The results and recommendations of this research will be further addressed in 2021 and 2022 from the joint program BES (t) 4 kids.
