Quality requirements
High-quality and responsible daycare and out-of-school care are of great importance. Children must feel safe and be given the room to develop. That is why quality requirements have been laid down in legislation and regulations.
All quality requirements that are applicable from 1 January 2026 can be found in this section. We explain them as simply as possible. Sometimes different rules apply to host parents than to childcare centres. In that case, you will see an * next to the title. The information for host parents can then be found at the bottom of the section.
All providers of daycare and out-of-school care must comply with the rules. They ensure that childcare is a pleasant and safe place for children. A place where children can learn and grow through play. And that remains affordable for all parents.
Support
The Public Entity supports the childcare organisations, together with local partners, during the improvement of the quality. The Inspectorate of Education works with local inspectors to check that the quality standards are being followed. And the RCN Unit SZW pays a large part of the costs of childcare.
In this way, we work together to ensure good, safe and accessible childcare for children on Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba.
