BES(t) 4 kids Academy at KinderWijs TV

At the BES(t) 4 kids Academy of KinderWijs TV, childcare organisations on Bonaire, St. Eustatius, and Saba obtain free access to online training courses for pedagogical employees. So that pedagogical employees can continue developing in their work, and children receive the best coaching.

What is KinderWijs TV?

KinderWijs TV creates online training courses for people who work with children. The learning modules consist of:

  • up-to-date knowledge about the development and coaching of children
  • inspiring videos
  • practical assignments and tips for the work in childcare

The training courses are online and interactive. Pedagogical employees can follow them whenever it’s convenient to them. After completion, they receive a proof of participation or certificate.

Training courses via the BES(t) 4 kids Academy

From April 2025 the BES(t) 4 kids Academy offers 30 learning modules about topics that pedagogical employees are facing on a daily basis, e.g. pedagogical objectives, emotions of children, and interaction skills.

Up to and including 2028, the BES(t) 4 kids programme pays the costs of the online academy of KinderWijs TV, including the subscription fees. Hence, pedagogical employees can follow the training courses free of charge.

Three modules are also available in Papiamentu and English:

  • Children and emotions (1 hour)
  • Working on the four basic pedagogical objectives (4 hours)
  • Introduction to the six interaction skills (1 hour)

More modules are being translated in the coming years. This way, employees can follow the training courses in the language of their island.

Do you want to participate?

Do you have, or are you the manager of, a childcare organisation on Bonaire, St. Eustatius or Saba? Then you can register your pedagogical employees for the BES(t) 4 kids Academy free of charge. This way your employees will have the chance of developing themselves further.

What do you need to do?

STEP 1: Select what employees can participate

Determine what pedagogical employee(s) can obtain a free subscription to the BES(t) 4 kids Academy of KinderWijs TV. We recommend the following selection criteria:

  • The employee works for your organisation on a permanent basis or for a longer period of time.
  • The employee has accomplished at least level 2 of Senior Secondary Vocational Education (MBO-2) (the online modules do not replace an MBO training but are an addition!).
  • The employee wants to follow the online training courses, or you agree on this together,
  • The employee has an email address and can use a computer or laptop (it is also possible to follow modules via a mobile phone, but a computer or laptop works better).

STEP 2: Register your employee(s)

Send an email to best4kids@rijksdienstcn.com. Communicate the name of your childcare centre and the following information for each employee:

  • first name
  • surname
  • email address
  • language preference (Dutch, Papiamentu, English)

Are you registering more than three employees? Then use the Excel form.

Your employees will receive an email within one month containing login information and a manual.

STEP 3: Stimulate your employee(s) to follow the modules.

You can ask your employee(s) to follow the training courses. Tips:

  • Together with your employee(s), select three modules to start with.
  • Agree on clear arrangements about when and how the modules are being followed.
  • Later discuss the modules together in the team. For instance:
    • What did you think of the module?
    • What did you learn?
    • Can we improve something in our work or our care?
